The Diffuse Coplanar Surface Barrier Discharge DCSBD is a special case of the dielectric barrier discharge. The discharge itself burns in a very thin layer of less than one millimeter thickness. Thus a very high-power density can be obtained which can be used for the plasma activation of porous materials (textiles, wood, paper, plastics, foams…) An in-line processing is possible, too. Using a multi electrode arrangement, the treatment of great flat surfaces can be realized.
Applications
Examples of possible applications:
- Plasma cleaning before gluing or printing
- Realization of special functional groups on polymers by using different process gases
- Flat functionalization of textile substrates
- Functionalization of powders for better dispersibility
